羅馬拼音的一致性是公文體翻譯不可或缺的條件之一

　　   106年度，高雄市政府轄區內的養護工程概況，包含道路及人行環境改善工程、自行車道建置、橋樑與隧道檢測改善等。然而，在此份養護工程概況的內容，包括大量的專業用語與轄區內各地方地名的羅馬拼音。目前在台灣的道路及地名的英譯，主要是以通用拼音或漢語拼音為主，翻譯師在面對原文裡的專業用語時，必須瞭解其意義並運用正確的羅馬拼音來翻譯成其目標語(英語)之所需的對應字詞或片語。如此，當外國觀光旅客來台灣旅遊，才不至於被路標地名的奇怪譯名所混淆了。此外，本翻譯社的專業翻譯師在進行翻譯時，總是會對原文內容的人、事、時、地、物等充分瞭解後，將原文轉換成目標語(英語)的文句或段落以力求譯文的準確性。以下為公文體翻譯流程：

原文1 (第二大項的第一小項與第二小項)
(一)海港型由二仁溪出海口至梓官蚵仔寮漁港之北海岸線自行車道，旗津自行車道及臨港線自行車道等。

(二)山林型由高屏溪出海口經林園，大寮堤頂自行車道至舊鐵橋溼地，再沿台29線至大樹，旗山地區自行車道系統。

(2)The forest type will be from the estuary of Gaoping River via Linyuan, Daliao Dike-top(註二) Bike Path to Old Iron Bridge Wetland, further forward along Provincial Highway 29 to Dashu and Qishan Bike Path Systems.

註一：臨港非專有地名，所以應該翻譯為Nearport 或 Portside。

註二：堤頂非專有地名，所以應該翻譯為Dike-top。

原文2 (第二大項的結語部分)

截至106年底全長已達963公里，為全國密度最高的綠色路網，結合大眾捷運系統，提升「綠色運輸」交通機能，為高雄市締造節能、環保、健康的有氧道路系統，躍進減碳友善的幸福城。

By the end of 2017, the total length of the bike path has been up to 963 kilometers, which is the green road network with the highest density in the country.  It combined the Mass Rapid Transit System to enhance the transportation function of the "green transport", which creates an energy-saving, environmental-friendly and healthy aerobic path system for Kaohsiung City, looking(註一) forward to a carbon-friendly and happy city.

註一：在此使用分詞構句，即..., looking forward to a carbon-friendly and happy city.

原文3(第五大項的第四小項的第一小分項)

1. 106年度本市岡山區、三民區及鳳山區、苓雅區等35個行政區，計877里，約23萬盞路燈鋁牌編號工作 。

1.In 2017, in Gangshan District, Sanmin District, Fengshan District, Lingya District and other 35 districts of Kaohsiung, inclusive of 877 sub-districts(註一), numbering(註二) approximately 230,000 streetlight aluminum plates was done.

註一：計877里，翻譯為inclusive of 877 sub-districts。

註二：約23萬盞路燈鋁牌編號工作，翻譯為numbering approximately 230,000 streetlight aluminum plates動名詞片語，以動名詞片語作為主詞。

原文4(第五大項的第六小項)

(六)105年度經濟部能源局補助水銀路燈落日計畫工程案，至106年結案止，共計完成更換40,520盞LED路燈。

註一：共計完成更換40,520盞LED路燈，翻譯為a total of 40,520 LED streetlights had replaced the mercury streetlights，此時還是將原文句末沒有出現的水銀燈(the mercury streetlights)，寫在譯文裡replaced後的受詞位置。

Among the cases (註一), there was a total of 1 case of maintenance and emergency repair of shared-pole streetlights, and there was a total of 2 cases of maintenance and emergency repair of lights, water and electricity, irrigation sprinklers, fountains and other facilities at all parks in the city.

註一：在譯文裡，增加一則介系詞片語Among the cases，使英語句子讀起來流暢。

　　此份養護工程概況，還包含大量的複合名詞。複合名詞為兩個或兩個以上名詞組合而成的名詞。在某些複合名詞的結構內，其中一個名詞為核心名詞，也就是複合名詞裡的核心字，而複合名詞結構內的其他名詞，只是充當修飾字。因此，翻譯師必須清楚地理解與運用複合名詞的核心字與其結構內的其他名詞，來準確地翻譯複合名詞的實際意義。

　　事實上，除了對原文內容充分瞭解與將原文翻譯成目標語(英語)的文句或段落之外，本翻譯社的專業翻譯師考量到養護工程概況的文稿來源為政府機構，因此對於翻譯政府機構的文稿總是會力求文詞用語專業而嚴謹，簡明而非華麗，實際而不浮誇，最主要是力求｢信、達、雅」之翻譯最高準則。
