論文摘要翻譯

論文英文摘要(Abstract)對研究生、學者投稿學報或研討會相當重要，尤其投稿國外期刊。很多同學為了方便，常常會用Google翻譯，把中文摘要翻成英文，再進行修改以節省時間。但這種方式容易造成英譯很大的問題，並且不易被檢查出來。以下由摘要中擷取最後一段來作說明的範例，摘要的最後一段可說是最重要的一段，目的在簡要說明本論文的目標及內容。

因此，本計畫將提出一種雙輪詢機制(Dual-polling) DBA演算法，它兼具Off-line DBA的剩餘頻寬分配能力、有效解決 Idle Time、以及動態頻寬配制下維持定速率功能以支援DiffServ Qos能力之DBA演算法。最後研究將與各知名的DBA演算法做比較，以驗證計畫所提之DP-DBA演算法的優異性。

這一段中、英文好像完全一致。但有問題的地方出現了
「兼具Off-line DBA的剩餘頻寬分配能力」的意義是 「具有Off-line DBA進行剩餘頻寬分配的能力」，但英文翻譯「it is both Off-line DBA allocate the remaining bandwidth capacity」的意義卻是「兼具Off-line DBA分配剩餘頻寬容量」。
原因出在capacity這個字，capacity同時有 能力和時有容量兩種涵意，但用在能力時會以capacity for或capacity to的形式出現，而「allocate the remaining bandwidth capacity」這句話翻成中文似乎就是「配置剩餘頻寬的能力」，但其實會被解讀成「配置剩餘頻寬容量」。

這是Google翻譯容易產生的問題，翻譯的用字都看似很正確，逐字翻譯下來都沒錯呀，但其實意義完全不同了！而且因為Google逐字翻譯的正確性會讓事後的檢查變得很困難。

我們再看另一段，「Finally, studies with the well-known DBA algorithms are compared to verify the plan referred to in the DP-DBA algorithm's superiority.」對照 「最後研究將與各知名的DBA演算法做比較，以驗證計畫所提之DP-DBA演算法的優異性。」，好像也沒什麼問題嘛！

但這句英文再翻成中文時其實是「最後，對知名的DBA演算法的研究將被比較，以驗證在DP-DBA演算法的優勢中所提及的計畫」。這段奇異文字有辦法看懂的人應該不多。從這兩段大家可以了解，Google翻譯不僅很快速很方便，而且還會讓錯誤很難被檢查出來。

As a result, this proposal is intended as an investigation of Dual-polling DBA algorithm, which is not only able to have the residual bandwidth allocation competence of Off-line DBA to effectively solve the idle time issue, but also can maintain the fixed rate function to support DiffServ Qos under DBA condition. In conclusion, this research will compare with other well-known DBA algorithm in order to approve and verify the excellence of DP-DBA algorithm that proposed in this study.
